Specialised premium focused workshop

"Thriving beyond adversity: Trauma, growth and mental wellbeing"

This powerful and deeply human in-person workshop brings together psychological science and lived experience to explore trauma, resilience and the capacity to adapt and thrive after adversity.

Delivered by Sherryn Lethlean, Director of SL Training Centre, health professional of over 2 decades with postgraduate qualifications in Psychology, alongside a guest keynote speakers with lived experience of both childhood trauma and life-changing physical injury, this session offers a rare and honest insight into the realities of adversity - and finding the pathways forward.

With a strong focus on men’s mental health, the session gently challenges silence, stigma and harmful expectations, while remaining inclusive and relevant for people of all genders. It is sensitive, respectful and powerful — designed to build understanding, empathy and practical awareness within teams and organisations.

This workshop is not therapy, but it is grounded in research, compassion and hope, with a focus on recovery, post-traumatic growth and meaningful change.

This session explores
  • The science of trauma and its impact on the brain, behaviour and workplace functioning

  • The prevalence of trauma, abuse and violence in the community

  • Men’s mental health — vulnerability, identity and the cost of silence

  • Differences in how mental health challenges may present across genders and cultures

  • Workplace bullying and its parallels with trauma and abuse

  • How to better support colleagues, friends and loved ones experiencing mental health challenges

  • Real-life accounts of recovery from adversity and growth from lived experience of the presenters
